Steering Stabilizer install writeup...?

Looking for any writeups on installing a steering stabilizer. I've got one from RE arriving on my doorstep tomorrow and I'd like to have it installed by this weekend !

It's VERY easy. Just remove two bolts. Remove old stabilizer. Install new one in same place with new hardware.

More or less just watch how you take off your stock one and reverse the process.

So I can just smack the bolt to get it out... ? On 4x4xplor he uses a pitman arm puller which I don't have.

The bolt holding the steering stabilizer to the drag link is tapered. I removed mine by giving the old bolt a few sharp hits with the hammer. Although I've read on here that placing a large hammer on one side of the drag link wered the bolt goes through and hitting the other side will pop it out easy. The hammer on the back side is to help with the impact.

My understanding of a steering stablizer is that it's there to absorb the side shock of your tires. It absorbs the shock so your other steering components won't have to. Excesive wear to your steering components can lead to the dreaded Death Wobbles.

Um .. hmf .... little tappy .. tap he says ... I ended up beating the snot out of mine and it's laughing at me. 8am today I'm at Sears picking up a puller ... which worked like a charm.

My advice ... have a small puller on hand ... buy one if you have to ... then try tappy ... tap tap ... and then blammy blam blam ... then if all else fails ... use the puller.

If you don't use it, you can return it ... a little insurance.

are you guys using the metal sleaves on the axle bolt side of the stabaliser to prevent wear in the rubber bushing? i havent on my last 2 i did on this one and it clunks and makes noises. by the way fabtech steering stablisers suck. im on my 3rd one in a year. they leak like a SOB and stain the garage floor with oil. yeah they have a lifetime warrenty but every 3-4 months is stupid to put one on. -chris
