steering question

There are times when I am driving and I get DW. Its not everytime, sometimes when i hit a bump it will cause it, but other times I could be driving on a flat surface straight and it will start to shake. I checked under the hood at the steering shaft and I can grab it and move it up and down and see it moving where it enters the steering box. Is this bad? Could this be the cause of the DW? I'm not sure if it is suppose to be able to move at all like this. Any help would be good.
The jeep is a 98 with 2.5" list, adj. trac bar. 115000Miles.
I check trac bar and its on tight

i had really badd DW on my 98 with 160K when i lifted it i replaced everything from the pitman arm down and got a JKS HD tie rod and adjustable track bars and a new Steering Stablizer, DW gone but my box still needs to be replaced becuase my steering is still a little sloppy.
