Steering Box Question

I have a 2001 TJ I6. Where the input shaft goes in the steering box, I have a leack. It happend while I was recalled to active duty, and stationed in Iraq. How hard is it to replace it? I was wondering becuase my friend next door said it isn't easy, becuase of the power steering lines, and getting air in the lines.

Thanks
Mark Hamlin

I think that the problem of lines and eventual air in them it's relative... since you have to remove the steering box from the vehicle to rebuild it/change seal or whatever. You will have to empty the system anyway in order to do the job properly. And you have to drain it also if you are going to swap another steering box in.

Your power steering system is self bleeding. Any trapped air will be bled from the system right quick like. I wouldn't think that changing the input seal on a steering box would be all that hard. If you had a service manual it would most likely contain all the vital info on changing it.
