I am now almost searching for projects to work on, it is heartbreaking to look at the yukon gears for the 8.8 and an empty housing. I have to wait until Sat for some help on that project.
So I decided to do the bypass switch on the door pins. I have really big fingers and getting fuse four out is a pain in the arse. JeepinTJ99 has a great writeup on this mod as well as others. I just decided to do my bracket a bit different because I wanted the switch acessable from the passenger side but not noticeable as I have lots of friends that like to just flip switches to see what they do. I built a very simple 5min bracket out of some abs for the 20amp toggle to mount to. Also on Jeepin's rig the main harness bundle travels to the passenger side firewall area where as on my 2001 it goes driverside. This gives you almost no slack and since I have to solder everything it made it really fun, but do-able. Cut the two yellow/black wires; soldered them together and onto one side of the switch and then back from the switch to the rear of the fuse box. Thanks JeepinTj99: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f20/interior-light-pass-switch-write-up-pics-276365/

Started bending the brake lines today. Tapped the new vent and welded on mounts for the two flex lines and the factory Jeep T. Now I have to make one or two line mounts for the heck of it. I ended up using a 12" line on the drivers side and a 32" line on the passenger. I really wish I could have found about a 35" line but 40" was the next side up and I could have wrapped that around the axel a few times if I wanted.
I installed the Advanced Adapters 231 bracket to rid myself of the on body pivot and binding issues. That was a pain in the arse for a two bolt install. The 14mm on the T case were not easy to get to and I ended up having to remove them with a box wrench I am too spoiled with air tools. Got the factory shovel back on but the stealership didn't get my speedo gear in like they said they would. Should be Monday on that one. Wheels and tires should be in on Wed. and I hope to have the gears installed in the 8.8 by days end tom.

Got the 4.56 installed in the 8.8 I mocked it all up again under the jeep and did some poser flex to locate where and at what degree I wanted to install the shock mounts. I decide to install them where the were just above the lower CA mounts as to prevent them from being the lowest point on the axle tubs. It did shift them upwards and the Rancho 9000 are now the limiting point of upwards travel. I have already extended the bumpstops with the factory ranch lift so now I am going to shop some new shocks or maybe bumpstops. The down travel is not being limited by the shocks and I like that.
I fully welded the shock mounts, cleaned up everything and got fresh paint on the whole assembly. Gravity bled the brakes for most of the afternoon and still feel I might need to pressure bleed the system. I am going to modify the "high tech" pressure bleeder I built for my blazer to work on the Jeep. I'll have to find another brake reservoir cap first. Anyone have a source outside the stealership? I also lost one of the brass washers for the brake caliber flex lines so that was an adventure trying to find a suitable replacement on a Sunday. Also make sure and keep a close eye on the fluid levels in the brake reservoir. These things are tiny and drain empty quickly. In the pictures you can see the husky liner that came for free out of a Tahoe my family traded in. I have been using it as a mat to slide on under the Jeep, keeps the floor clean and really works well. I was standing there bored watching the brakes bleed and decided to break out the knife and cut it to fit the entire rear of the Jeep just for kicks. Still waiting on the rear shaft from Tom Woods to tweak the pinion angle a few degrees and get it back on some shoes.

Got my drive shaft in and hey "My shaft is a Woody"
Once I got the pinion 2 degrees under that of the ds at ride height I was left with enough rome to insert a dollar between the case cover and the gas tank skid at full compression. I think there might be some self clearance there on the trails. She is back on here old shoes. I built a plug cover for the abs hole on top of the 8.8 and installed the front and rear track bars. The axles are both shifted drivers side by less then 1/4" so I will see if I can shift them over 1/8" tom. night. I tried bouncing it, driving forward and back all to no avail. Might have to get a strap after it. Hopefully start the front end alignment tom also. ![]()

Ok, now my request for you is to lift your gas tank skid, then sell it to me.
First, you'll need a 1.25" body lift, though.Oh, and lets see that flex pic that you were talking about when you mounted the shock tabs.

I got the air compressor wired to one of the dash switch, still trying to decide on tank and mounting location if anyone has an idea.
New shoes came in and she looked really happy after I got them on. I cut out one of the centercaps and epoxied in my led third brake light. I also thought I would try something I read about on her. I see everywhere people using Krylon Fusion to repaint the factory flares. I just need mine to look decent until I go tube so that was a bit too much work Well I grabbed the heat gun and it was truly unbelieveable. I ran the gun over the flares and it was almost like the heat gun was painting them black. I think you could go buy a heat gun for not much more then the Krylon would cost and it is a handy tool to have. I tried to get some pictures but the glare just doesn"t do the work justice. The front fender was scrathced bad and the scratch is still there but it is not really noticeable now that it is all the same color. (in the picture the large scratch was the only area I had done) Try it, for sure before painting.

In preparation for the first wheelin trip w/ this Jeep, I made some quick brackets for the CB and mounted it on the driver kick panel. It really hasn't been in the way at all and everything but the brackets are quickly removable if need be. The brackets are actually 2 left over oval led brackets that I welded together to form a U bracket. I then drilled 4 holes in the bracket and bolted it to the kick panel. I think with such a large surface on the bracket it will hold up much better then mounting a simple L on the thin plastic.

Yesterday was the Jeeps first outing since I have started working on it. She did exceptionally well. I will have to pay a better camera crew next time as there were no real action shots but we did get her twisted up pretty well. I jambed up the front pretty well with it disconnected and ripped the ball joint out of the Rancho adjustable track bar. We sucked the axel over a bit and reinstalled the ball joint to get me home and I even wheeled a bit before that. I've already got a replacement RE trackbar coming to solve that problem. The Rancho just doesn't have enough thread engagement for a lift this size.
