What is that beast of a vehicle sitting to the left of the TJ? Looks like a K5 blazer??

It is a K5 you can see the entire buildup of that vehicle on the link in my signature. I decided to sell it and start on a jeep because I went way psat street legal on the K5 and I do not have a place nearby to store the trailer and tow it to the limited trails around lubbock. Now I will be able to drive out to the trails on one of my limited days off work.

Installed the led's today. I used the Trucklite 44030R led lights. They come as a kit with a single light unit, pigtail and the grommet. I paid $17.31 per unit. The are 44 led and plenty bright.
I used a hacksaw blade to make a pattern (drilled for radius of hole and screwed in for a pivot) I like this method because I have used blades and you can bend and drill them easily. I used the lower wire opening and upper bolt hole as measurements for the placement since both were equadistant on each side. For multiple reasons I masked off the area once placement was fixed and remarked the holes. This provides protection to the paint and keeps it from chipping. It also allowed me to prime the cut edge with rattlecan after the holes were made. I soldered in all the connections via the guide below and ground to the double pinch weld inside the rear corners. There was nothing at all in the inners to interfere with the mounting on my 01 TJ. You can see in the pictures that I lowered the license plate frame about 3/4", redrilled the holes and threaded them. For good measure I filled in the old holes with a bit of black gasket maker. I'll try to get a more bit in detail when here when I finish up the relays for backup lights using the factory third brake light wiring pass through. I'll be fixing the fast blink relay at that time also. Jeep Wrangler TJ Factory Wire Color Codes Left Side: Tail = Black/Yellow Tracer Brake/Turn = Green/Red Tracer Back-up = Violet/Black Tracer Right Side: Tail = Black/Yellow Tracer Brake/Turn = Brown/Red Tracer Back-Up = Violet/Black Tracer

As far as the reverse lights: First thought was to mount a single flood in the center of the rear tire. I was going to use the factory brake wiring pass through in the door as power for the flood. The two issues that arose with that is I want to easily be able to remove the spare and TX requires a 3rd brake light and 2 backup lights, both of which I do not have yet hence the NM plates. Second idea started out trying to mount a pair of 6" oval clear led backup lights. I was planning on mounting them in the same location I ended up using. I thought that I could weld up a box style housing and mount inside the tubes. The problem is I need a bit more room. I could have dremeled out the plug area of the lights, soldered in some wires and hoped I could seal them up enough to last. Or another option was to box in the outside of the tubes both top and bottom in that area and mount them on the outside. I figured that would not look right, they would be vulnerable and I would have to refinish the bumper. So I scraped the first housing I built and took back the 2 oval leds. That was nice because even with my discount they would have cost me about 100.00 with the mounts, grommets, leds and pigtails. I made a trip to a couple autoparts stores and Wal-Mart. While at Oriely I found a Hopkins 47965 2 pole flate trailer pigtail for $1.99 and a Piranha sealed 2" LED red marker light V174KR for $9.39 (needed for project later in post). At Wal-Mart I grabbed a Platnium Burner Fog Light kit H3 bulbs/55watts for $19.94 The set looked about as good as any rice burner fogs I have seen and came in under $20.00 Oh man I saved $80.00 on this project, might as well call Brown Dog Offroad and get a set of 1" up motor mountsOk for the 3rd brake light I removed the tire and confirmed that this is a really snug fit in the factory wheel. I tapped it in place with a rubber hammer to be safe. The light will only mount from the inside of the wheel so if it did ever pop out it would be rattling inside the carrier and not on the ground. I cut the two wire trailer pigtail in half and soldered the male section onto the light (male as in the power side exposed metal) this way if I removed the spare and unplugged the light I do not have to worry about any exposed power wires for the brake lights grounding out. Plus the trailer light plugs are much better at keeping out moisture and being connected and disconnected versus the male female connections I have seen used on projects. I attached the other end to the factory third brake light wiring, loomed it up and drilled a passthrough hole in the center of the tire carrier mounting plate. The only thing you have to be carefull with is pinching the wires between the carrier and wheel. It was an easy solution. I tossed the tire up on the carrier and just caught a few threads on each of the lugs to keep it in place, opened the tailgate and you can gain access to reach the wiring and pull it snug as you seat the wheel against the carrier. Tightened up the lugs and calle the project done. Now if I want to remove the tire I just pull it off and unplug the wires. If it falls during the process the pigtail should break loos without damage. (still waiting on the Bestop Tire Carrier to arrive I will do the same with it installed) Now back to the reverse lights. I located the locations for the mounts inside the tubing area where the are clear of most trail damage. To mount them I clamped the mounts in place and drilled 3 holes through the bracket and 1/2 way into the bumper mounting plate. I then plug welded them into place so there was no hardware to mess with. A bit of cleanup, masking and some fresh rustoleum locked em up. I routed the wires and loom through the unused bumper mount actually for a YJ but the holes behind it in the crossmember was only off a bit and allowed a factory pass through. The wires then run up into the corners and are not exposed anywhere except the 2-3" inside the tubing area. I have to cleanup and make the gf happy so I will continue wiring and writeup tom. I am going to run a relay activate off a 3 position switch (1) factory setting on when vehicle is in reverse (2) off all the time (3) switch activated. I'll have this switch in the factory ashtray location (being replaced with a duplicate drv side switch panel) with the air lockers.

Well today has been great and crappy both.
Had some winch issues while installing the Carling switch I won't double post that one. But here is the link http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f27/milemarker-bs-let-my-rant-begin-431933/ The switch turned out very nice. I tapped the light indicator circuit into the orange wire on the factory harness for dash illumination. The other wires came straight from the KC relay harness. I just wanted a better look then the factory KC switch. I found a complete 8.8 out of a 2000 Explorer and will pick it up tom. That swap will begin soon. I noticed after loasing the pics that the cig housing is cracked so I guess I will have to swap in a new one when I add the other switch panel and remove the ashtray.

No replies back from MileMarker yet.
I did go pick up my 8.8 from a 2000 Explorer today. It was complete disk to disk. I have stripped it down and looked over all the parts. Got everything marked and labeled, bagged and tagged. I know where the bearing caps go, shims, and angle of the dangle for the whole bit. Do not be alarmed by the foam in the oil it is from the degreaser I hosed it down with. I will try and start on the smoothing of the tubes Monday. I also installed a new flasher to fix the fast flash with the leds. The part is a Tridon EP27 and it is a direct plug and play for the original relay. All you have to do is remove 2 philips head screws from the bottom of the column cover and remove the two sections from the column. Pull out the old relay swap in the new one and button it up. It will work with both the rear only leds or both front and rear leds. I was going to try and purchase some MAD 4wd axle brackets but I have been unable to reach them and there website link to brackets is not functioning. boo
