Spun Axle Tube

I just figured out that I have even more damage from apoast run. I seem to have spun an axle tube on my rear Dana 44. I have never done this kind of damage before. Anyone know just how to go about fixing this?

Thanks,
Robbie

If it's just spun with no other damage, you can do a few things.

Spin it back, clean out the rosette welds as best you can and re-weld. Then you can weld the tube to the end of the diff casting where it joins the tube.

Bear in mind you will need to pull the gears and re-seal the end of the tube where the carrier bearings are and the gear set-up should be re-checked upon re-installation of the carrier and ring gear.

i did the same thing to my 14 bolt http://s150.photobucket.com/albums/s89/420willys/?action=view&current=Image014-1.jpg . i did jack the tube back into position buy just putting a bottle jack on the pinion and a chian around the axle to the frame. i was able to fix this housing but only kept it for the reast of the seasion. now my new 14 bolt is 4-linked and has looks like this http://s150.photobucket.com/albums/s89/420willys/?action=view&current=0611072315.jpg and this housing has the tubes welded to the center section http://s150.photobucket.com/albums/s89/420willys/?action=view&current=0623071337.jpg . i never removed my carrier when i fixed the old one, jason.

Yep, already repaired it. It is what appears to have caused the damage. When it went, it basically forced the tube to spin inside of the center section.

same thing happened to my 35. Did the side opposite the failure twist?
Twist it back in place with what ever combination of straps, chains and heat needed. After heating the housing we welded the tubes to the housing and trussed the axle.
