Spice & White U-Pol Raptor Cage & Tub Fun w/pics

Well I finally got around to getting this off my checklist. All I can say is that PREP, although a royal pain, is what will make it look good vs. bad. I spent probably 9 hours last weekend stripping the interior (didn't take long) and sanding. Then about 5 hours yesterday (with someone helping me) doing some more sanding and then taping off, masking everything, and wiping everything down.

I did the cage last night in white so it could dry overnight and allow for my tub "lines" to be taped on the cage for the Spice. Then shot the Spice today. Overall I am really happy with the way it turned out. I was a bit skeptical of the Spice matching, but it's almost dead on to the dash.

I bought 2 kits. The cage took a bottle and a half (and looooots of overspray) and I used 5 on the tub. So I have a bottle and a half leftover in case I need to touch up anything down the road.

On to the pictures....There a good many, cause everyone loves pictures.

Prep:

After spraying the cage:

Tub - Last Coat

Thanks. Haven't seen a lot of people do the tintable kit and I am happy with the way the color turned out.

yeah I said screw it and just left the sealer on mine, but after seeing yours I'm wishing I would have shaved and sanded it all down.

That looks fantastic !! Nice work

I do have a question though.

I noticed that you textured the mating surface on your tub where all your seals go (doors, hard top and rear tail-gate. Do you think that that amount of texture could potentially cause a leak (air and water) while the vehicle is in motion?

Again, great work. Seeing the finished product has me itching to start tearing mine down and doing the same.

Thanks guys, yea I am really happy with the way it turned out. It's a good bit of work prepping it all, but worth it.

I didn't have a ton of sealer down there like a lot of folks do. I guess I just got lucky, that stuff looks terrible.

I don't forsee any issues with it. The texture isn't super rough that it would cause something like that from what I can tell, at least at the door jambs. I don't have a hardtop, but what I can remember from my first TJ, I wouldnt forsee any issues with it either.

Pretty close color match..the liner lightened the tint up just a bit

Man I have been impatiently waiting for someone to match the spice so I could see if its something I would want to do. That thing is beautiful, very nice job. I love how you did the roll cage white, nice touch. Do you have a paint code you used for the spice?
