Something's leaking...

Check engine light came on a couple days ago.

Something is leaking on the driver's side of the engine; kind of smells like power steering fluid. Shop tells me they can't diagnose it because my computer isn't communicating.

I'm going to take pictures when I get it back.

Any initial thoughts?

I take it they can't diag the check engine light because of the computer not the leak?

Which engine?

Leaking fluid that smells like power steering fluid, CEL coming on, 4 cyl engine has a power steering fluid pressure sensor,... Have you checked the power steering fluid level? Cleaning the area well will help you find the source of the leak.

Keep in mind that free advice can frequently be worth less than you pay for it.

Turn the key on and off 3 times and pull the code yourself.Your answer will be in the numbers grasshopper. When you find the code, time for you to leave.

Leak's been fixed (hoses and pressure switch). CEL is still on. Won't throw any codes with the ignition check.

If it's a problem with the computer, what do I do?

Does your cigarette lighter/outlet work? That and your CEL run on the same circuit. That fuse is most likely blown. I would check that fuse out.

Yep it works. It will blink the code, and even show it in your odometer.
