Soft top latches

Hi! I accidently bought the chrome latches for the soft top, the ones that attach to the mirror on the car for my 2001 Wrangler sport, I have no idea how to install them, I was wondering if any of you know how to remove and install latches on the soft top of a jeep wrangler sport 2001

i don't have an answer to your question but i was wondering why anyone would want chrome soft top latches? they are on the inside right?

wouldn't all that effort and bling be going to waste since no one will see them?

The reasons you aren't getting much of an answer are:
  • There is no such thing as a softtop latch that attaches *to* the mirror. Maybe you mean the two that attach a foot away on either side of the interior rear view mirror? But that way of phrasing sounds non-sensical to us and is very confusing as to exactly what you have and are trying to do.
  • If you "accidentally" bought this part, are you really sure that's what it is. And how do you "accidentally" buy something weird like that?
  • Being aggressive about demanding an answer is NOT the way to get help. If you don't get an answer, it is usually a sign that either your question was too obscure, didn't make sense to anybody, or simply nobody here knows an answer to it.

My suggestion: If you "accidentally" bought a non-sensical part on eBay and don't have a frikin clue what to do with it, simply resell it yourself on eBay to someone else.

I'll tell you how to install them if you'll sell them to me... Just kidding. Actually, I am looking for a set of those (not neccessarily the bling type, but...) and didn't know you could buy them in a set like that. My passenger side latch lost one of the rivets in the side making it pretty much useless, and Chrysler naturally doesn't sell them individually, rather they sell both latches connected to the entire header-piece which costs a couple hundred bucks.

Anyway, here's what you do. Right behind the pivot point of the latch are two torx bolts. It's a little tricky, but if you position the latch up just right you can reach your little torx screwdriver in there and pull those puppies out.
Good luck, and be sure to avoid any unwanted aggression on the forum.
