Soft top difference from year to year?
I've been shopping for a soft top for my TJ and have found a seller with both a 2002 and a 2003 soft top for sale that she says are different enough that the 2003 top wouldn't fit onto my 2002. She mentions that Jeep did subtle changes year to year during the TJ production and tops can't be interchanged from one model year to another. Is this true? I've never heard of such a thing but I've only owned 4 TJs so far and except for my 02, they've all been dual-top equipped.

The 2003 top will go on your 2002 model TJ no problem.
The differences between the 02 and 03 tops are: -02 is 4 ply sailcloth, 03 is 3 ply -Zipper configuration changed. The side windows are NOT interchangeable between an 02 and an 03 top. -The header and latches are slightly different, but not enough to make them incompatible.

01 and 02 tops are the same. I have an 01 on my 03.

03 jeeps started with the thicker roll bar padding therefore requiring roll bar brackets with longer "ears" on it.
I have a top from a 98 on my 03 and it works fine.

This is good information to know, it seems like the 03+ tops are more expensive! It'll save me a little cash when it's time to replace mine!
