Soft Top Bow Knuckles

Well i put on the soft top last night and those darn nuts in the knuckles were stripped so i drilled them out and did a little handywork and got it together.
But now my issue lies in the fact that the knuckles look like they are going to break, they seem to be supporting to much downward force and are kinda bending/binding up. Does this make sense to anyone? Kinda hard to explain, shoulda taken a picture.
But, if anyone knows what i can do to solve this problem let me know.

Yes the plastic ones bend but off hand I have not seen any posst about them breaking. When I got my TJ a couple years ago, I also was concerned about mine looking bent and I got billet replacements (may not have needed to though). You can get them on ebay and other vendors on the web. Just do a search for the best price. I believe the low end is 35. Quardatec wants 49 or so.

That is what I have are the Sun Performance ones. I've had them forever and they work great.

I didn't even realize I posted a link to a knock off.

Just installed the billet aluminum knuckles on our 2000.

I think Rugged Ridge made them. One of our OEM plastic knuckles broke when removing the top for NTD. Its also amazing how much the plastic ones will bend as well. Some of the ones we removed really had a bow to them.

Happy with the new ones so far.

Huh. Not only does Jeepforum help me fix problems, it also alerts me to other problems that I didn't know I've had. My knuckles are crooked, I'd never noticed that before.

My fix for the stripped bolts.
