Slips out of 2nd, 4th, and reverse

I put a 3" suspension left on my 2003 Wrangler. Since then I keep slipping out of 2nd, 4th, and mainly reverse. I took the boot off of the shifter and it shifts much easier and with no trouble slipping out of gear. IT seems like the rubber is pulling back the shifter and making it slip out. Do I need a new design for the boot or is there another way to correct the problem. I was reading a thread about another boot on a YJ that can be adjusted, but wanted to know if that is a similar soultion for a 2003 Wrangler. Thanks for any help.

Look at the ring around the shifter, raise it one inch and that will raise your boot one inch thus preventing it from being so short and binding in the downward gears. This is happening because you dropped your t-case.

I had the same problem after my BL/MML. I moved the console back about 1/4in and haven't had problems since.

How did you move the console back? And to the other help, moving the ring didn't help. It keeps pulling the shifter away. thanks

There is also a foam piece on the shifter. You can cut that off and it should help. Also, the rubber boot is directional, so if you have it on backwards, it will pull like that.

I just backed out all the screws holding it in place, moved the console back and re drilled. Move it back and drive for awhile to see if it fixes your problem before you go drilling in the tub.
