I have the little shimmy at 50ish MPH as well. It has been driving me crazy. I have brand new 33x10.5x15 BFG AT's on and have had them balanced several times. Didn't work. So I then had them road forced balanced and that still didn't get rid of the shimmy.

Now, the ujoints on my front axles do make a funny sound (not sure how to describe) when I move forward or reverse with the wheel turned to lock in either direction. Not sure if it is both of them or just the one. There isn't any slack or wobble in them that I can tell with my limited experience of ujoints.

About this tow-out, I have always heard to have 1/4" tow-in. What is the difference and how will that stop the shimmy? (I am not questioning your wisdom, just trying to understand it) I will try this 1/16" tow-out soon and let everyone know if it helped.

Bad thing about u-joints on the axle is their is not a good way to check them with out taking stuff apart. You can jack up the front, turn the steering wheel so the tires are turned, and spin your tires by hand. If they turn easy and then hit a tight spot they might be bad.

Well, I checked my tow (or toe) and it was exactly 1/4 inch tow-in. I started adjusting and checking and double checking and locked her down at 1/32" tow-in to try that and see how it did. It DID help with the shimmy, but I do still have a little shimmy left, but not nearly as bad. I will re-adjust in the next day or so and set to the actual 1/16" tow-out as advised on this thread and see how that does and post back.

Well I changed my toe again and set it at the 1/16 toe-out and my shimmy is virtually gone. What I mean by virtually is that everyone once in awhile I can barely feel a little tiny tiny shimmy right at 50mph for just a sec or so and then it stops. But that isn't every time it is only seldom. So for all intensive purposes, my shimmy is gone.

On a side note, prior to the toe change I had a little road wander. It wasn't bad or anything, just something I had noticed. The toe-out also corrected the wander. It doesn't do that anymore either. Double win!

Great news johnny whitehead, I adjusted mine out to where it is perfectly straight and it has a slight shimmy still so I guess I need to go out a little more and try again.
