Now For Body Armor Options and Companies...
While the previous post covers the armor for your mechanicals, this list covers armor options for your body panels.
Front Fenders This is not about flares and coverage, but options like tube fenders that get up and out of the way and protect metal from being bashed or fix metal that already has.
Tub Panel Plates
Windshield Guards
Rockers/Sliders Body Mounted
Frame Mounted
Rear Corners
Rear Fenders these often over lap with the previous category, but specifically offer flares on the corners
Cages and Sport Bars coming soon... A-Piller Cage Foot Kit for DIY cage reenforcement Any categories I'm missing? Last edited by Rivka; 06-05-2008 at 12:51 PM.. |

Looking for referance pictures, read details
Looking for a good picture or drawing of a straight on shot of the underneath of a jeep showing all the spots that have covers for them. My preference is that it would be all stock and have areas outlined or highlighted so that folks can understand what we are aiming to protect.
Anyone got anything like this? we may need a few showing big year changes or other differences. PM me Last edited by Rivka; 06-10-2007 at 03:15 PM.. |

Skid Plates : Changes, Needs, Concerns and Notes From Various TJ Years
does anyone want to help with this post's info? PM me
Lets see if we can agree here when the TJ Stock Skids changes happen, so folks will know what they still need. I know gas tank skids got better, shovel got a bit worse and Rubicons may have different things that other models. Input on this matter will be compiled in this post Last edited by Rivka; 06-10-2007 at 10:16 PM.. |

I'm not knocking your idea....
Just a thought, but I think the "Reviews" section of the forum covers a lot of this pretty well with the ability to add to it. If people would look more there before asking the repeated questions about which company's products, what site, best prices, etc it would save a lot of trouble.

Skid Row
I run the following:
Manufacturer's Website Brand/type: Skid Row Engine Skid Requirements: 6cyl. Engine Compatible years: '03-'06 Price: $250ish Review: Good, strong skid. It ties into the factory t-case skid with bolts, but I've also seen a clamp-type fastener. It can withstand really hard shots without deforming, but it can be bent. I've bent mine, but I beat on it really hard. Brand/type: Skid Row Steering Box Skid Requirements: None Compatible years: '97-'06 Price: $50ish Review: I've barely hit it, but it's rather thick and sturdily mounted. Covers the steering box quite well, so it radically minimizes vulnerability. Easy, quick installation. Brand/type: Skid Row Radiator Guard Requirements: None Compatible years: '97-'06 Price: $60 Review: I've never hit it, but it's definately worth the piece of mind. Easy, quick installation. no offense taken, yeah i know there is a review section, but like i have done with the thread i link to in my Sig below. i think there is a real need for a single post complied list. this will be somewhere that hopefully you get to find link to all makers so that you have the first part of being a informed person there for you, reading reviews is a great step too, but if a brand never gets reviewed then you don't even know it is out there. Watch how this turns out, you may understand it differently. this will be a facts list, no opinions.

Nth Degree Tummy Tucker combined with Skid Row engine/tranny skid is my personal favorite combo. However, I've also heard good things about Jeep Medic stuff and would like to learn more about them.

jaredjulin, great to hear! glad i could explain and offer something useful
rjt36, great info, great details thanks, lets not do the pictures though they do belong in the review section way more and make the thread more convoluted than it needs. As this grows it is designed so that folks will only have to read the first few posts that compile the info, that is where it gets so much of it's usefulness. thanks for helping regardless.
