Shifter Light..Seatbelt Light..argg...Turn Off....

Very Annoying, I have a 2004 Manual Rubicon, There are 2 things I hate about it, and maybe someone can help me out with this. 1st Problem: the seatbelt light directly in the middle of the RPM and MPH’s. At night time it shine right in my face. Is there a way to turn it off for good? 2nd Problem: the shift light, the jeep is telling me when to shift, I already know when to shift, is their a way to disable that?

Thanks

can't say about the seat belt lamp, disconnected mine by disconnecting the wire harness under the seat. the upshift lamp is an LED that can't be removed.

Is there a reason why you wouldn't be wearing the seatbelt??

Yea I know, that seatbelt light goes off when it's connected. I hope you don't drive without it... and if you do you're asking for an early funeral.

This must have been a change in recent years (if correct). I took mine out after removing the guage cluster. It is just a bulb behind there. Simple as twist and pull to remove the bulb from the back.

There is no LED that can't be removed... it just may take a pair of pliers to twist it off the circuit board.

I agree with others here... just wear the darn seatbelt. It's not a big deal to put it on... second nature for me now. I find myself putting it on just to pull a car around the lot at work

Seatbelts are not uncomfortable either... you just have to wear it a while to get used to it. Actually, I'm uncomfortable anytime I ride in a vehicle WITHOUT a seatbelt!!!

As for the shift light... I'm not sure what to say. I guess I'm lucky my '05 doesn't have one, or at least it doesn't work! If that is the case, it's one thing I will NOT be getting repaired under warranty!

I wear the seatbelt, and the light still is always on. Has been for some time. I never thought of disconnecting the wiring harness under the seat!

Being a 2004 model, have you thought of taking it to the dealer to get fixed under warranty?

DO THIS.

Not wearing a seatbelt is madness in a Jeep. In a severe accident not even the hard top will keep you in the vehicle. Get the belt system performing properly and then worry about #2.

Do airbags perform any different if the belt isn't fastened? If the sensor is screwed up you may have more problems than just an annoying light.

If you are married, just pretend the shift light is your wife, You should be able to ignore it real easy then..

One thing you can try is adjust the tilt on the steering wheel where it blocks your view of the light, Im 6'5" and the way my wheel sits, I cant see the light unless i move my head a little... so im able to ignore it real easy..

As far as the seat belt light, just buckle up, I myself dont wear my belt much due to being alive after a double rollover that not having a seatbelt saved my life, but I have seen a few wrecks where the driver would have been alive or not hurt as bad if they had there belt on, even though i dont wear a seatbelt much, you wont find me offroad without it..

Same here. The way I have my steering wheel, I look at the speedo/tach/fuel through the middle of the wheel, and the rim blocks my view of the shift light. I hardly ever notice it. If it really bugs you, can't you just put some electrical tape or something over it?

If the seatbelt light comes on when you're buckled up, the dealer should fix that under warranty.
