Setting Up Bump Stops
Ladies and Gentlemen - Please excuse the "nub" question.
But... how do you all go about setting up your bump stops? Is there anything in particular i need to know? I have just finished installing the TnT long arm kit into my TJ and want to make sure I don't rub on the fenders at full stuff (have mashed them up previously). What's the "best" way to go about setting up the bumpstops, is there something in particular i should buy (JKS adjustable bumpstops or somethign to that effect) to make my life easier? Thanks.

Use hockey pucks. Just drill a hole through the center of them and then drill and tap the coil bucket. Stack as many as you need.

Your best bet is to make a good estimate and install them. I went to a loading dock area and ran my Jeep up the cement wall and got out and checked the fenders as I went. I needed to add about an additional 1/2" of stop.
You needed to drill and tap the lower coil bucket before you installed the springs, that way you can add or subtract without removing your springs every time. Hockey pucks work good, you can even use gasket sealant to hold them in place until you remove the springs and drill and tap the spring coil buckets. I ran for a year and half like that before I removed the springs and drill and tapped them. ![]() Good Luck The Dog .. ![]() |

No need to drive anywhere and test... Use a jack and raise the axle to the point you want the tire to stop. Then look at the bump stop and guage how much you need to add..
