I for one will keep submitting. I would like to have a callendar with all these jeeps and mine on it. I have looked at the competition and I know where my rig stands. Its really just a matter of opinion anyway. In looking at the votes, I was suprised that I was one of the few that didnt vote for me. If I get chosen again, I will still vote for someone elses rig that I like. Just my op. Bottom line. Some of us need to quit being such Nancys.

To put what I am trying to say in words that everyone can understand and not blow out of proportion: My point is that instead of the majority of the top ten being the same Jeeps, change it up a bit. I understand that it is difficult to choose the top ten but with so many rigs out there, one would think that there would be a wide selection of top ten worthy Jeeps. Why not give other people a chance in the spotlight? People obviously like seeing new Jeeps, and will vote for them. Personally I like a contest when it's actually a contest. Like last month when Poohbah and -sean- were neck and neck, that was a great contest. I am not saying that each month must have 10 different Jeeps every time, one or two repeats is fine. However, people like what they like and will continue to pick the same over and over. I am well aware that the judges do not decide the winner and that it is us, the people of JF, that ultimately decide the winner. I never did state that, but thanks for clearing it up. Look guys, I don't want to start a fight. I'm just stating the facts as I see them. Sorry if my two cents hurt people's feelings. I knew when I posted my opinion that I would be flamed for it, that's just how this forum is. If anyone has a problem with what I said please send it in a PM. I will bow out and let this thread return to it's regularly scheduled programming.

I will continue to evaluate the top-10 I submit on a month-to-month basis. If you're entering for the first time and make it, great. If you've entered several times and didn't, keep trying. Giving up shouldn't be an option. Let's be real, this thing has only been up and running for 3 months and people are complaining about the "same" Jeeps being selected? ![]()

Again, not flaming you - just giving my 2 cents as a judge. If a new dude (or gal) comes a long with a great TJ and submits it then that rig will show up in the top 10 - maybe he/she will beat out one of the "usuals" that month who knows. I noticed that Silver Goat did not enter his old Jeep this month, if he had - He may have been in my top 10 over one of these "usuals". I know of a few other JF Jeeps that would probably beat out one of the "usuals" if it was entered. It is all based on the Jeeps entered. Regardless - this contest can not be perfect and make everyone happy every month but I think most of the bugs have been worked out and the majority look forward to it. I don't like it. I think things are good the way they are. If a guy has not won and has a worthy rig, he should be able to submit as many times as he wants. Again just my opinion.

Idaho - are you saying that you pretty much always pick the same top ten just because it's fair to the owners of those Jeeps?
![]() I think she was just hitting on the fact that if the top ten is pretty much the same every month, then eventually everyone in the top ten is going to win. So why bother? It just amazes me that out of 26-ish? rigs submitted, we keep seeing the same ones over and over. To Spyder6 - I'm not sure how I feel about that. I don't think that would be fair. Also you guys are having a really hard time getting people to submit so that may not be the best idea. Honestly, I think that if there is going to be a discussion on all of this it should probably stay between the judges or be moved to a different thread. I'm not trying to take away from the competition here. ![]()

I guess I don't agree with putting Jeep "Y" in the top ten over Jeep "X" just because Jeep "Y" had not been submitted before and Jeep "X" has. Confused again? lol ![]()

Not confused. I get the Jeep X/Y thing. I'm not saying pick new people just because they are new. They should be picked for reasons that were already stated. I am saying though that when people see the contest has the same people in it all the time, it makes you not want to submit. Maybe there should be a cap on how many consecutive months someone can be in the top ten. Maybe you should only be allowed to be in the top ten every other month or something just to change it up a little. Unless of course there were no entries and not that many rigs to choose from anyway. I am just going to drop it because I will always be wrong. ![]() Carry on.

I would consider such a rule the same thing as telling someone who drives a race car that they are not allowed to race anymore since they have never won. If folks want to see more diversity in the choices each month they will have to either enter the contest themselves or encourage others to do so. I myself have suggested to others on other boards that they should enter just to mix things up. Greg (Gunkel) had no intentions on entering this contest, he told me that directly... face to face. He is not the type of guy to "blow his own horn" or say "hay, look at me". Myself and a few others encouraged him to enter and he finely crumbled under all of the peer pressure. ![]() The bottom line is that the ten (11) choices put out to the JF members to vote on by us "judges" are what we think are the best of the samples submitted. I can tell you this, we have very different taste. Just take a look at our personal rigs... they speak volumes as to what we might consider a "nice rig". Irregardless, we all know a nice rig when we see it. I for one am not looking for the prettiest Jeep, I'm looking for the most functional and well built.

Mall Crawling Race Rig

My rig is built up bigger and better since my photo submissions for September. Now it's on 37" Pitbull Rockers and I'm waiting on a rear stinger to be built. Can't decide between investing in a 5" stretch, or going with a belly up for some short term advantages too. Hopefully I'll have better pics for next month (multiple rock crawls coming up). I don't mind coming in second to Gunkel either- great rig! I would be afraid to wheel it it looks so pretty. ![]() |
