I was looking at seat risers..but $70 or $65 w/e is a littl emuch for me. I was wondering, could hockey pucks be used? That would add about 1 inch and thats all I need. I could just go to the hardware store and buy longer grade 8 bolts and washers. i dont see why it owuldnt work. Insert Comments

I made my own out of 1.5 alum. shoft cut down to 1.25. Worked perfect. One of the best mods I have done to the Jeep.

Dave...
I just mentioned this in another thread....Ive had mine raised using hockey pucks for about a year or so. Just get longer bolts, drill the pucks and your good to go.

It's probably not the safest thing, but, I used four huge nuts (oh, crap, that sounds nasty) that are about an inch tall. It's worked great for a year. I'm going to take them out though, my shins sometimes rub the under dash thing.

Great idea! I'll be borrowing a few pucks from my nephews this weekend to give it a shot.

How tall are you guys that are lifting your seats? I am 6 foot, and I was thinking about it, just to give me a little extra height to view. But I am concerned about my shins hitting/rubbing the dash...

Used pucks are available at any small sports stores for about $0.50. New ones are only $2.

Why do people want to sit higher...other than better view?
not knocking, just curious.....
I am 5'11", i can see plenty high (i guess) BUT one thing i hate is right hand turns or curves as the rearview mirror gets in my way, and i have to duck to see through it....i cant be the only one with this problem and im sure it would get old ducking down further, even if it is only an inch or so further?

LOL, I need a riser. I'm 5'8. I bought iggee seat covers and put a 2" pad between the seat and the seat cover. Works like a charm! For some reason, the older the jeep gets, the more I feel I am sinking in the seat. Either the seat is shrinking or I am, not sure.

Yep...regular ice hockey pucks..don't remember what they cost. 1~2 bucks a pieces & some hardware from Lowes. Don't remember the sizes of the bolts I used.
This is about the only pic where you can sorta make out the puck under the driver seat:
I'm 5'-9" & it helped me see over the hood a little better..

I'M 6'4", & maybe i just look over the mirror, it doesn't seem to be a problem.
But i was thinking that this might give a slight amount of leg room. has anybody notice this change with there risers?
