stop wasting time in tail lights, and get to work on that belly skid, also i`m more interested in those aluminum corners than the lights.

I saw where you said it was a sealed unit, but will we be able to remove the frame if we choose to add some kind of finish to it?

Be very careful with the wife mod. Uninstallation can be extremely expensive. Wife mods have been known to take the Jeep and all other mods during the uninstall process. Also, make sure you service your wife mod properly as often as humanly possible. Wife mods not properly serviced may malfuction or uninstall themselves at any time.

I've used black anodizing - MIL-A-8625F Type II, Class 2 before in applications requiring autoclavability. It usually looks awesome for a while, but starts to get foggy and fade over time (20+ cycles)...but keep in mind thats an autoclave...very harsh environment.

Bar stock? So you're not forming sheet, your welding stock together? If so, it would have to be finished afterwards. I thought you were forming sheet and could use a colored finish.

No, not welding. They are carved out of a single chunk of 1" thick 6061 T-6 rectangular bar stock.

As far as anodizing goes, something may have changed in the last 2 or 3 years, but I've had tons of Black Anodizing done and the number one warning was to keep it out of the sun. Besides, I've never seen a "true" black anodized color either. They always turn out with a greenish, bluish, or brownish tinge to them which isn't noticeable until you put it against something that's black.

If you really like dark purple though, I'll get a set anodized black and in about a year, you'll have a pair of dark plum bezels for your LED's.

Alright, consider this then. I have no issue doing a run of the best Black Anodizing available in Southern California for those that would like it.

The catch is, I wouldn't be interested in discussing warranty issues when it fades, changes colors, or is not a true black. I'll even warn you right now that they will only look good for about a year and likely less.

How many are still interested?

Wasting time? Did it ever occur to you that I can dream up stuff faster than shops can build it?

I currently am in charge of several different products and the various shops that produce them. At one machine shop alone I have 7 or 8 products going, a couple at a sheet metal shop, and intensive R&D at our fab shop as well as supervising production.

Not one minute of time that could have been spent on our next Savvy product was diverted to develop these tail light housings. In fact, I could keep another shop going if I needed to.

In my case, when I got my first Jeep in May of 99, it was 50/50 to have something my wife and I could do together as a couple and the other half was for me to have an outlet for my incessant tinkering. I still enjoy both fully to this day.

Darn it! I was hoping you were looking for some side work.

Thanks and please let me or Gerald know how the straps are and how the install went.

Come on Blaine stay with the program I offered to come move into your garage and be a gopher so I can learn more about jeeps and jeep related items. I still got my college money for my last 2 semester, i could very well fill out the info for the payment check to Blaines College of jeeps and related stuff

But anyway great looking lights, got a question. I have the Mopar corner guards that are Diamond Plate, kinda wish I didn't have them now but I was new to the jeep world when I bought them. Will these lights work with those corner guards since they are flat? My stock taillight housings worked great but yours sit nice and flush. I will take a pic if you need one.

Also do you have any spy shots of your Original Swayloc yet?

Blaine, I do commercial construction. Our black annodized products are always a class 1 (.7 mil minimum) finish. We have jobs that are over 5 years old that still look new, and these are exterior building products (doors/framing). Yes, it will fade/chalk, but there's no question that the color is black and that it lasts much longer than you're suggesting. Not argueing with you, just sharing with you what I see on a daily basis.

Different question: How far do the lights project off the body? I'm curious if they'll hold the elastic straps for a cab cover if the wind starts blowing.

I'm guessing store fronts?

Anyway, I can only go by my experiences with the shops that I have had do work for me in the past. I suspect if you were in my shoes and had to cover any warranty issues based on what's available, you'd make the same recommendations. I also wouldn't be happy with the fading or chalking.

They are exactly 1" overall with regard to the bezel. With the light installed, they are 1.050 overall.
