The LJ need brakes bad as it is not safe. It actually drives OK with 3.73 with the OD off. Forget using the OD. I'll put 4.88s in when it is time to regear.
I look forward to seeing how the gearing does. I plan on doing 4:88's once I can scrape together all that cash for a regear.

Any word on that bumper hoop?

The 04 Rubi may be up for sale soon. Once the TT is done it may go up.

Ok... I understand the gear decision then. I do like having the option of turning OD off too.

That is cool that you will be doing the writeup for crawl. Will we get to see it first, or will we have to wait for the mag?

I put 4.88s in my 04 auto LJ back in January and I wish I had done it sooner. Being in Flat Florida it seemed to drive ok with the 3.73s, or so I thought. It was like a brand new Jeep the first moment I took off. After finally getting it offroad it just seemed to walk over stuff I had to press the skinny pedal hard for before.

04 LJ: 4.0, auto, 4.88s, Aussie Locker front, Trac-loc rear, 3" BDS lift, Rock Krawler HD steering, 1" BL, 35" KM2s, MCE Flattie Fenders, Olympic A/T Slider front and rear bumpers, A/T rock rails, XRC8 winch, onboard CO2, Hummer-style intake, Hi-lift, HighRock tire carrier, CB, Bluetooth, Monstaliner

Hmm...

You have too many Jeeps, I can't keep track! It's an LJ Rubi w/auto tranny?

If so, it sound very tempting! I normally refuse to buy anything that was already modded by someon else, but if it was modded with you and Blaine around I'll take it as safe

My RHD TJ - Savvy equipped... And loving it!

I drive on the right side, what's wrong with you?

I have a better proposition though. I could trade them a Bone stock TJ that is ready for some new gear, and it has the beloved 42rle. It still has less than 22k on it too. Hell, I might be nice enough to even deliver it for free (it would gain a lot of miles on the drive, but it is very well maintained.)

Can you drill & tap the ends of the links similar to what Branik does?

I think the problem here is the usage of Blaine's words. He uses cannot instead of can not. He is implying that it is impossible to do. Period. End of story (although I can't believe it really is).

Whatever. Whether you cannot or can not run aluminum links without a tightened jam nut wasn't the question. I'm sure that I would not want to try.

However, since Branik Motorsports makes drilled & tapped aluminum links and sells them with Johnny Joints, is there a chance for Savvy to make something similar? If not, is it due to the physical properties of the links, lack of market segment, restrictive patent, etc.?

Blaine and Gerald put the tub rails on my LJ, and I'm pleased to report that they work, and work well. While on Outer Limits at JV last week, I had momentary brain failure while backing up. I backed into a big a$$ rock. Hard, very hard. My teeth rattled. The tub rail corner was the impact point. Guess what happened to it? It got scratched. That's all. If you guys need protection, this stuff is it. Blaine has forbidden me from posting pictures until all of the KOH mud has been cleaned up, so I'll try and get some hi-res shots this weekend.

I am just attempting to decipher what Blaine says. He speaks in a very precise and specific language known as English. He chooses his words carefully, and even makes them semi ambiguous while totally intentional and true to mess with us.
