I wouldn't want that on a link. It just seems like an extra place to grab something on the trail

I forgot that this is an LJ. I am thinking of a TJ. So add in 15" of tub and 10" of frame.

Well I'm just thinking you put LH or RH threads on both ends so it can't move.

I believe stock dry weight is like 3400lbs, so that is 100lbs in gas, and 400lbs for the lift ,tires, and armor.

Thanks! I was just trying to dig that up. The wheels alone make up most of the difference. I lost weight in the bumpers and spare tire/carrier.

The LJ need brakes bad as it is not safe. It actually drives OK with 3.73 with the OD off. Forget using the OD. I'll put 4.88s in when it is time to regear.

i dont see how a split in the aluminum with a pinch bolt will catch on anything, you would want to run it split side up of course.

As far as a side shot, luckrider, a sideshot to me is 90 deg. not 75 or 110, im talking perpendicular, but thanks for playing.

Why stick to 4.88? You can get 5.13 no matter what JK axles you use, and that would be much better on the highway. You will also have a better crawl ratio.

What brakes are going in for now, BBK?

I like 4.88s better then 5.13s for the driving I do. I can still do 70+ mph in drive with OD off and use OD for flat driving. For me 4.88 are much better on the highway as I can do 80 effortlessly. The OD has a switch for a reason so you can turn it off. 5.13s negates this and you have a 4 speed auto. Nothing wrong with it but I much prefer the tall OD.

Remember, I'm near stock weight so my Jeep perform like it is stock. With a 4:1 TC you won't notice the difference in crawl speed. Besides if I'm crawling it will be in my 03 with 5.38s.

Blaine will make brakes similar to LarryN's since we are putting on the Reid Racing Outers.
