Rusted rear bumpstop bolts
Ive got a 2000 TJ with 140k miles here in New England, I'm trying to remove the rear bump stop cups to repaint and add bump stop extensions for my spring install. Both of the bump stop bolts will back out about an inch and then they just spin and don't come out any further. I cannot see the top nut, which is I believe how they were installed from the factory. if I could see that, normally I would just cut the bolts and put a new bolt and nut on each side and be good to go. Anyone have any ideas on what I should do?

do you have an electric or air impact? just snap them off, cut em off, whatever you have to do. drill out the hole to 7/16".

to reinstall the bumpstop cup & extension, get a grade 8 7/16" bolt long enough to reach all the way through the spring perch. Use a grade 8 thick fender washer and grade 8 nut on the backside and you should be good to go.

Thanks, that helps, much appreciated. My next jeep is going to be from TX or AZ...

SOAK your nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PB blaster has always been helpful, in tight/hard to reach spots.

The time now is 12:40 AM.
