That's the point. It has been tried and tested. Do a search, you'll see. Many people try many things and it doesn't do anything other than spend $$. The 4.0 is optimized pretty well from the factory, as it's been refined over the last 50 years. Like if you take a 91 XJ or YJ and compare some of the stuff to say my 05 TJ, there is some things in the intake that are a little different.

So don't get me wrong, there are some things you can do to help, it just depends on your year on what's really available for everything. For the most part, it's been shown that cold air intakes, K&Ns, seafoam, etc, doesn't do a whole lot for power and MPG for what they cost. Sure each one might get you 1mpg for a period of time.

However, it's your Jeep and you're allowed to spend the money however you see fit. Just how I bought a chrome tailpipe tip & painted parts of my interior yellow to match my Jeep, you're allowed to do engine mods people don't agree with will.

X2. Can't understand a thread like this -- it's like asking dieting questions while eating Jumbo size Big Mac meals!

The guy in the next office is saving a boatload of gas money with his new prius.

That's partly because the roads have been so marginal around here lately -- he can't drive it anywhere.

I may only get 13MPG (8MPG the week it was -20F) but I go where I want, when I want. Totally worth it.

My one-ton Ford pickup gets better mileage than my Jeep, while towing the Jeep!
