Rubicon Mpg improvement?

Ok so without doing mods that are counter productive to wheeling. what mods can I do to improve milage that actually work? (I don't want to get smaller tires and higher gears)

(I have an new 06 Rubicon)

-Can the chip be reprogramed/replaced?

-Does a new intake mod really help? (I did one on a previous vehicle and ot made 0% difference.)

Any other CA legal mods I can do to help?

Its doubtful that any mod will save you more money in gas than the mod costs itself. The best thing you can do is drive like grandma, accelerate slowly, drive slower and coast as much as possible.

best mod you're going to be able to do for gas mileage improvement is the wallet mod.
yeah all you have to do is spend about $300 on a motor scooter.. the get about 110-150 mpg.
haha

I had the K&N FIPK intake system, i actually lost mpg with it. Delt with it for almost 5 months before giving up and putting the stock intake back on. Re-set the ECU twice, so it could recalberate, but no luck

Without affecting offroad performance, the best mod for gas mileage is the "Geo Metro mod". Find a Geo Metro, buy it, use it for any non-offroad driving and you will see a significant increase in the amount of time between fill-ups in the Jeep.

Holy crap! I've never actually checked how much I spend on gas, I just keep sliding the card every few days and don't really pay attention. I just went online to my bank account and found out that in the last 30 days I've spent $310 on gas... and I didn't really even go anywhere!

Other than getiing a different vehicle, I have never seen anything that was worth the expense to help with gas mileage or hp. You could probably do something that would give you .5 mpg extra but it would cost you $300 or more and it would take a long time for that to be an equal expense in the long run. As I see it, you should have seen the mileage ratings on the window when you bought your Jeep, did you actually think they were wrong and that you would get better mileage????? Wrangler mileage sucks bad.

sheesh you guys either drive your wranglers alot or i'm just a lucky one. I have a 4 cyl so i get like 1-2 mpg better than the 4.0 . And i'm spending about 30 bux a week so 120 a month. I drive about 180 miles per weekish

but yea if your looking for good gas mileage you bought the wrong vehicle.

No mods will help your MPG. The best thing you can do is keep off the skinny pedal and be sure your tires are properly inflated and maintain your rig.
$360 a month in gas for me LOVE MY JEEP!
