Got Contura switches hooked up and they work awesomely the last few months. I have the locker indicator lights on the switches illuminate when the switches powering the pumps are on and have the parking light bars iluminate when the lockers lock. I would really like to have the parking light bars illum with the other switches when the parking lights are on and have another indicator for positive axle lock in the instrument cluster like a stock Rubi though. Anyone do this?

Okay well thanks for this guys,

when i purchased mine the wiring was shot and the sensor on the front diff was hanging off and the switch in the dash didnt work.

So i took the air pumps off and hard wired them to see if they were working and one was but the other one wasnt. so i soaked it in electronics cleaner and it started working. i then went to Checker auto and purchased 2 switches one for front and one for rear. I cut the harnesses off the existing wires and capped/labeled them just incase i figure out how to get the stock switch to work. And connected some wires for them and ran them to the dash so i can engage the lockers whenever i want. If anyone would like a walk through i can provide it.... but i do have some questions

1 How do i hook up the front and rear sensors to a status light so i know they are engaged (i purchased a new front one from the dealer for $40.00).
2 Where can i wire the constant HOT from so my lockers cant be turned on when the jeep is off, if anyone knows how to do this i would really like the information!!!
3 Do the lockers just stay on untill i disengage the lockers?

( P.S. the pink wire is not hooked up from factory, the other harness only had a BLACK AND RED, and didnt hve any wire in the middle where the pink is)

ANYONE CAN HELP PLEASE!!

Hey BaddAndy got any pics of your set up with the switches? I was looking at the Contura switches and wanted to see what they look like all wired up and installed. Thanks

It's looks better in real life being in a low dark place
Before the Safety switch. The locker positive locked lites were the parking light bars on the switches

After the Safety switch and modifying the instrument panel to have a "FR LK and RR LK" positive locked Idiot lites that illuminate in green. I also modified the "PART TIME" Idiot lite to read "4WD" as can be seen in the pic above the oil pressure gage

Sry for digging this up, but I couldn't let this very informative thread go into the archives without a link to my '05 Rubi AirPump Relocate Tech WriteUp.

For the stock relocate, only 2 power wires are involved ... the "other" wires that come from the diff, in my case, are left "stock", sending the normal signals to the computer.

locker air pump

Hi there to everyone, i´m new in these fourum and looking for help. I recently bought a pair of dana 44 from a 2003 rubicon, but the donor jeep hadn´t the air pumps anymore. so i was wondering if it would be better to buy a pair of mopar air pumps at jeepsareus that are around $200 or buy an ARB air compressor and put an air preassure regulator to match the preassure (5-8lbs) needed for the rubi lockers. would this damage the air compressor? Thanks for your help, and wanted to tell you that this is one of the best if not the best jeep fourum there is, congratulations to all its members.

If anyone could send me an e mail i would apreciate it.

I considered the alternatives, as you are, but at the end of the day it is easier to simply by the pumps that are made for the axles. If you decide on doing it that hard way, let us know how it works.

looked at a factory rubicon before i did mine and the pink wire on both pumps was not used but the pumps were sourced from another application so who knows what the pink may have been for on those but look on a factory rubicon and the pink where just ends no wire on the other side of the plug in. I bought brand new mopar pump and hooked up red positive, black negative and put pressure gauge on and cuts pump off at 6.5 psi if what waas posted above was true and it was pump till it cant pump no more htem why did it only make about 6.5 and others posted over 10psi? you may have found another way to make them workk but the factory way is to hook up red and black at least on the 04 i looked at on the dealer lot here in town

Great information on this thread! I probably missed it, but are there any other alternatives for the pump or cheaper sources? I.e. for the ARB power switch I sue mac Valves (as my ARb's took a dump long ago, and rather than spend $80 from ARB I bought MAC's for $20) I am sure there must be another alternative out there, maybe something guys with MOG or volvo axles are running to lock their axles?

I have a TJ stock rear 44 and got a rubi locker I am planning to install. I was planning to just use a pressure regulator from my onboard setup to keep in the 5-6psi range. Anyone found other good, bujt sources for the compressor? I will not be buying the Mopar part unless I have to, $200 is alot of gas\beer for a fun trip

The $200 is a lot, but when I tried to put something together it never seemed to be as clean as the stock set up. You can buy just one compressor for $100 if you have just one locker. I bought a single pump from the dealer for around that amount.

yep, just wondering if there is a cheaper way to do it as I have two friends with Rubicons that had pump failures and had to shell out about $250 each (they coudl not buy only one). I just dropped by the dealer at lunch and they can sell the rear for $140 in CA). Part 5127835AA.

Anyone has tried running of their OBA and regulator? Seems like a good approach for anyone that already has OBA setup, plus a good reg runs about $20-40
