Rubicon Express 3.5" SuperFlex with 4.5" Coils

Can I take the 3.5" coil springs out of my Rubicon Express 3.5" SuperFlex lift and replace them with 4.5" coils? It is as simple as that. Can it be done? I know it will ride rougher. Its a jeep.

Thanks in advance for any info!!

you could do it. the only thing is that you will more than likely shorten your wheelbase a little by making your control arms a bit more vertical which will make your ride a tad bit rougher which you already know. I have 4.5" coils in mine right now and i'd like to get 3.5's. what will you be doing with them. maybe we could do a barter?

I wouldn't think it would shorten the wheelbase anything more than an inch. I would be just getting rid of them. I don't have rear upper adjustable control arms, would I need those? I have a SYE kit already.

I just looked on Rubicon Expresses website, and they offer a 4.5" short arm superflex kit.

I have long enough brake lines.
Parking brake lines would be in question.
I would need upper adj. rear control arms.
I would need to lengthen my sway bar disconnects(I am not buying another set)
Track bars might be ok?
I think that is all I need to worry about.

Would I be able to run 35" tires with this lift combination do you guys think?

There are a few who will swap you their 4.5s for your 3.5s/
Have you read: so you want to run 35s itll take some work
or LCG builds
Good luck!

No I have not read those. Rubicon express reccommends a 1" body lift to fit 35" tires with the 4.5" springs on thier website. I could probably cut the wheel wheels out and get tube fenders, but I kinda wanted to stay away from that.

you don't need 5.5" of lift to clear 33's.
do some reading up on this

just add a 1" BL and call it quits...easier and you can run a TT on there...

here's what i would do. with the 4.5" springs you can easily fit 35's. that is what i have right now. as far as adjustable control arms go.... i just took off my rear uppers and lowers from my superflex kit and switched the arms to rough country. the joints need to be loosened up with some grease and the bushings need to be replaced but the arms that i took off were for a 4.5" kit. if you want the arms, i'll give them to you for the 3.5" springs. the arms need a little maintenence but you'll save a few hundred bucks. let me know. i'm in the military and i deploy this week but i can get them to you.

It doesn't matter what they (RE) recommend for 33's. In the real world lots of guys are running RE 3.5 & 1.25 BL and clearing 35's just fine. 33's should be no problem. Read the sigs of some of the guys on the forum, that will give you some "real world" advice, needs, & ideas to clear the tires you want to run

You dont need to cut or add a BL to clear 33's or 35's with a 4.5" lift.

You will need adj ca's to set your pinion angles. Upper and lower would be ideal so that you could lengthen your wheelbase back to stock or better but uppers will do to set your pinion.
Longer bumpstops and sway links. Parking brake will be fine. Rear brake lines will be fine. If you installed RE front brake lines they will be fine.

Alright. So all I need really is the 4.5" springs and the adjustable control arms and I am set! I'll make custom sway bar links from my old ones. I don't think I will worry about the bumpstops for now.

What are you referring to as TT?
