I havea '97 TJ with a 4" lift. I have a chance to get a set of '06 Rubicon axles. I am wanting to swap in these axles with the factory lockers and 4.10 gears in my '97.

Is there any problems doing this swap as far as bolt in axles?

What about getting the lockers to work?

Get the pumps with it and then wire them in yourself. I'm sure there is a write up for that floating around here somewhere.

they will bolt right in with the following conditions -

you'll need to change the front and rear driveshaft yokes. Rubicon's use 1330 u-joints...all other TJ's use 1310.
rubi air lockers run on 3-5psi, easiest thing to do would be buy a set of rubicon pumps, mount them under the hood and wire them up to dash switches.

Rubi lockers are air-driven.

do you have a precision regulator and actuator capable of maintaining 3-5 psi?

the stuff to make your 125-150psi compressor work would cost in the neighborhood of $100-200. might as well just grab his pumps and wire them up for $5.

Also your rear driveshaft will need an adapter u-joint.

If you dont use the right PSI, you will blow the seals in the lockers.

The rubicon lockers require low pressure (5 psi?) If you don't grab the actually rubi pumps you will need to regulate the air supply.

If it's a totaled vehicle, grab the compressor wiring for them as well. That way you get the factory switches.

Would he need to change his skid set-up to run the larger tcase? Perhaps a body lift?

Obviously you'll want to verify that the axles are straight and unharmed, that the driveshafts are good, that the transfer case is good, that the locker pumps are good, etc.

As -dirt- mentioned, you'll probably also need to notch your skidplate or otherwise modify your mounts to handle the larger 241 transfer case. There are threads on here about swapping a 241 into '97-'02 TJ's.

pm if you have questions but i have a rubi 241 rubi axles and rubi driveshafts in my 97 and axles just bolt in but definately get the locker pumps and if you want i can tell you how to wire some contura rocker switches so the light comes on when axles locks. I would grab all but the six speed trans and run
