Rubi as daily driver in Iowa?
I have had a 97 sport for 4 weeks, I love it. I got it so I would not have to drive my 01 Camaro SS this winter. I love my car, but ins. is high and now have to insure 2 cars, and after a few nice weeks in the Jeep with top down I think I could live without the car. I have only put 11k on it and always worry it will get a scratch. I am considering putting the two towards a new Jeep. Is the Rubi worth the xtra 4g's, or would a well equiped sport be better? As a daily driver. The 97 has 33's and a d35 100k needs header, shocks, top prob in a year, and half doors that I am sure will be a pain come snow time. If I keep them I will prob spend that 4g on parts. What a dilema.

depends - if you wheel often, and on at least moderate trails, most definately the Rubi is worth the extra cash.

If you are worried about scratches, then I assume that you don't wheel often or very hard, and in this case the Rubi would most definately be overkill for you and a waste of money...

I would keep the SS
Just take the insurance off the SS (all but the comprehensive) for the winter. You'll save several hundreds. I sold a 99 Z for my 01 wrangler and do miss it at times. Even after driving the jeep top down, you do have the urge to get behind a fast muscle car. Plus the Camaros are history and the SS was a rare edition. Keep it.

Yeah, I put storage insurance on it, already in garage. Once I get past the "honeymoon stage" with Jeep I would prob regret selling her. Keeping it seems to be the consencus.

Want a little zip but you don't want to wheel hard? Get rid of the SS and get a new TJ sport. After that, order an after market supercharger. That's almost 300 horses without any other upgrades. HTH...

Yeah, but a hard top/full doors would be nice.....but I looked at some new sports, and they sit so low I would need another lift, bigger tires............

I have a Rubicon and I love it. I have not yet had a problem with it and I have wheeled it pretty hard. Taken it to Paragon Adventure Park and done some Black rated trails stock. I am not saying that a Sport or X couldn't do that but I figure for the 4 to 1 low range and selectable lockers front and rear it is worth it. That is if you wheel it pretty often. I am usually in 4low atleast once a week, on a trail somewhere. If you don't wheel it that often then IMPO a well equipped sport or sahara would be just fine. Either way its a Jeep you'll enjoy it.

as to the new versus used thing..
I have no problem beating the **** out of my '97... which allows me to get to some places I might not get to if I was worried about the way it looked...
If you have a new vehicle, you either baby it, or you beat the **** out of it, and you have a ****ty new vehicle.. neither are fun
I love my '97
Edit: And my guess is that if you don't know if a rubi will help you, it probably wouldn't be much more use to you... stick with your '97 and your muscle car
