Rubi 44 with true 44 outers?

I had a strange thought the other day.

Why don't people run D44 outers on their Rubi 44s? On the CJ side of the world, we run D44 outers on our D30s.

Just curious about the feasibility or stupidity of doing something like this.

If it's just a bolt on like the CJ ones are that would give TJ owners the chance to run 5x5.5 half ton truck brakes and lock outs.

I'm assuming there is probably custom shafts involved.

It can't be that easy can it? What am I missing?

you need the Reid racing conversion knuckles. the true 44 knuckles wont fit the TJ inner Cs.

there was a write up here of a guy doing it to his TJ setup front ford 9".

i figure it would be worth the swap.

What what I remember in the little bit of reseach I did, was the YJ and TJ dana 30s and 44s have the upper ball joint higher than the older CJ dana 30 and older 44s....so its not a bolt on as the inner knuckles would have to be cut off and the older style welded on....to much BS for most... But a TJ with a front 44 and real locking hubs would appeal to me..

Ahh, thanks Matt and Ed.

I saw those Reid Knuckles as well as the Warn kit for TJs.

I like the idea of the 5x5.5 bolt pattern and lock outs as well. Then when both the CJ and TJ go out they can swap a few parts.
