I used it on one of my vr6's for a bit. I didn't notice anything at all. I liked Amsoil a lot.. but Royal Purple didn't seem to do anything but dye everything in sight purple.

First, please fill out your Profile so we at least know what transmission you have and thus what trans fluid you're asking about. RP is generally good stuff providing you get the right RP... most trannies are pretty darned particular about which lube they run.

RP Synchromax is fine for that particular transmission. With 32 tech posts you've probably had time to fill out your Profile by now.

I have read that RP synchromax will void the warranty on the tranny. It isnt compliant with chyslers required lube specs.

I'd like to see where you read that, it could be useful for future recommendations if true. Otherwise it's just a rumor.

I tried the Royal Purple in my NSG370 for awhile.... one thing is I couldn't find anywhere (on the bottle or their website) where it meets the MS-9224 that Chrysler specifies for that tranny. I'm sure it's fine for the 6 speed.... but after about three months I switched to Amsoil Synchromesh (which meets Chryslers MS-9224 spec) and wasn't disappointed I did..... shifting is much smoother. So it's your call... either oil will be fine I'm sure...or you can go to the 5 star and pay $19/qt for their oil. No I don't sell Amsoil products... just telling you how my experience is using it!!!!!

About 6 months ago I started popping out of gear when shifting and then couldn't downshift into 1st from 2nd (unless at dead stop) without MAJOR grinding. I searched and searched the net and found RP. I drained my tranny and used RP to get ............................ OUTSTANDING RESULTS. All roughness, popping out of gear and downshifting problems are GONE. I'd honestly say that it's all smoother than I ever remember in the almost 10 years I've driven my TJ (180K miles).

Agreed, nowhere on the packaging or their website do they mention the Chysler spec. Amsoil does meet the spec for sure with it's MTF Synchromesh fluid. I have even had customers say that RP said do not run their fluid during warranty period. Never confirmed personally, but I have heard that from multiple customers. Somebody drop RP tech an email & see what they say.

Otherwise Redline makes a really nice trans oil, im running MT90 in my AX15 and love how it shifts. However it can be even more difficult to find than RP (atleast it is around here).

i've recently put royal purple max gear in my AX-5, 5 speed tranny.

Noticed some easier shifts getting into 1st and Reverse while coming from N.

Royal Purple Synchromax is recommended for Dodge transfer cases and manual transmissions that normally would use the Chrysler ATF+4. It is superior to the factory branded fluid or the GM Synchromesh.

It is an improvement over this OEM fluid in that it has additional performance additives that result in superior wear protection for bearings, gears, etc yet still allow the proper engagement / operation of the clutches and synchronizers for smoother shifts as well as being a fully synthetic product rather than the refined mineral oil of the OEM / Synchromesh fluids.

Unfortunately, to claim that you meet the MS 9224 specification requires the fluid to be 'an exact copy' of the OEM fluid - so to answer your question - we can not claim this without violating US laws.

What's your application - year and model?

from ROF, an email from royal purple.
