Rough idle, hesitation, =anger
Alright this problem has been on going and getting worse.... before it was annoying because when it would get to normal temp it would want to die for about a minute and then it would run normal... by "want to die" I mean it will idle very low coming close to stalling and when driving it will die down and you have to pull over... this is only for about a minute...
and then recently with the colder weather it completly went away for some reason... but on the hot days it would do it... and yesterday it was coming back, but today its back worse than ever. right after startup it idles very low most of the time its at like 250 rpms (first little line) then when it reaches normal operating temp it does the old thing listed above for about a minute then right after that it idles fine, it drives almost normal with a notice in lose of power and as soon as I press in the clutch it goes back to 250-500 UNTIL I completely stop moving where it idles completly normal... which makes no sence to me at all, but this problem is really getting on my nerves, because I really take pride in my jeep, and when my friends and girls are riding with me it is very embarassing... soo Im considering taking it to a shop but I really wanted to see if anyone has an idea at what this is so I could take a crack at it... so anyone?

Kinda tired, but it sounds like a idle air control valve. If you give it a little throttle does it run normal? I just used all my left over brain cells on this thread

Same Problem
I had the same problem, It started to exhibit it when I noticed the CAT was rattling. I placed a straight pipe in and (nope). Replaced TPS (Nope). Changed Cap and Rotor (Nope). Put on new Plug wires (Nope). Put on new CAT AHA!! (Nope). Then I saw this post. I unplugged the o2 when it started to exhibit the drop in idle. Engine RPM picked right up. I think I am going to replace it tonight and see what happens. I will let you know.

Thanks Chobes, I saw that thread last night and today I picked up a new one from napa for 62.99, Im going to install it now and will post the results when Im done.
Out of all the things I have done to my jeep thus far, changing out the o2 sensor has to be the least challenging... I was expecting to have to say a couple cuss words and throw some tools but if you know how to turn a wrench you can do it. I had more troubles getting my creeper wheels to roll than I did changing the sensor.... I will let you know if the problem is gone after I drive it... I dont have enough gas right now to check it but Im going out in about an hour and when I get home hopefully the problem wont show. Last edited by Zice; 10-13-2006 at 05:16 PM.. |
