Rough Country 4" N2 Series Lift for TJ
Thinking about putting this kit on my dads TJ. I've heard people complain about RC springs but they changed the spring rates to ride better. This is not going to see hard off roading. Local trails for fun on weekends and drives to the beach and stuff. Just want a good riding, good looking suspension. The Jeep is a 98 TJ 4.0 AX-15 231 with a 2" OME and 31's with 3.75 BS. We'll run 33's.
Will we need extended brakelines? I will also be adding a font adjustable track bar because i dn't like the idea of just drilling a new hole. Will any steeing upgrades or modifications be needed? Anything else?
Thanks.

This kit is now upgraded and comes with the 2.0 shocks and clevite bushings in the arms. Make a tremendous diff in ride over poly bushings that were originally in the arms. If you are gonna run a adjustable trackbar and it has a drop bracket you will also need a dropped pitman arm. As far as braklines with no wheeling other then what you explained you will be fine with stock lines.

What kind of discount will I get? Can I upgrade to sway bar disconnect and stainless brake lines and how much would that be? Just wondering for reference.

i was also looking at this, i have a 97 tj, am a 17 year old, wanted to get the 4" extreme flex long arm, but ill do that like 5 years from now, but im sitting on 1' taller springs with a spacer and longer shocks, i want a lift kit mainly for the looks, i cant afford to go offroad as much now,
will my pitman arm be ok? and is there any way to add upper control arms, will they be needed?
thanks, love your 1.25" body lift, works good!

just did the RC N2.0 4" lift this weekend.....
and I cannot say enough good things about it. The ride is different, but not much different than stock. The install was not bad, you dod have to drill a new hole for the REAR track bar, but not a big deal, the adjustable may not be worth the money in my opinion.
Go for it, but make sure you let you dad know before you just do it, because it does ride, steer, handle differently than a stock TJ.
BTW, I got morre like 5/6 inches of height in the rear and 5 in the front with the new kit. It may settle a little, but is well worth the money.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Eric

Just finished install of this lift on my buddy's 04 TJ. Install went pretty smooth. Kit was complete but our only complaint was we wish the parts bags would have been labeled/divided a little better. Control arms are HUGE! Look very heavy duty. All other parts fit perfectly. The video of the install on RC's website was a great addition to the instructions. We read, then watched the video then paused it to complete that portion of work. Only problem is a little death wobble as speeds get higher, but the new tires and wheels get here Tuesday and the alignment should be the same day. The only mistake/deviation from the instructions we made was failing to mark the cam bolt on the front passenger side lower control arm. Hope alignment fixes the dw or we are going to have some tweaking to do. Oh and I forgot... transmission is really hard to shift into reverse now, but pulling up on the rubber boot around the shifter seems to stop it from bunching up and it goes into reverse ok.
Jeff if you have any suggestions let me know. I'll hopefully be ordering mine in a few weeks.

There is no such thing as a little death wobble.. U can have some vibes or shimmying for various reasons usually unbalanced tires for example.. If u have death wobble u know!.. Car feels like its gonna shake itself apart and u have to slow down greatly or even stop .. Then change ur pants haha..the root of that problem is slop in joints like CAs or track bar.. That is my problem im having to replace them all! There goes my budget.. Good luck with fixing it! Cheers

I personally am not a fan of the x-series now. I'm currently saving for curries Johnny joint ends since these "older" x-series really arn't that great. They squeak and sound like they pop when you're on the road going up little stuff like someones driveway and they only have 150 miles on them. I'd personally get the zone lift kit instead. 1.25 body lift so you can install savvy's tummy tuck and 3" springs or take the body lift off get some metal clocks and have a great stance with some big tires then add some currie johnny joints to them and have a sweet rig.

You should only use a drop pitman arm if you get a drop track bar bracket, otherwise, you will get bumpsteer. Not specific to this lift, but with any lift.
