get a nice cup style pitman arm puller, a hammer, and a nice impact gun. And yes you do need the drop. I have the same lift and yeah you need it. Also get some adjustable upper control arms from ROKMEN. These are sick compared to stock.

I put this in my jeep a few months back. I took the advise from this board and did NOT use the drop pitman arm. I also didnt need a spring compressor. 2x4 helped me out with the springs. I put the tc drop and have had zero issues. i used skyjacker shocks too.

Why is the dropped pitman arm not needed?

I highly recommend running our new 2.2 shocks and stab vs the old 8000 hydro series shocks.

Super old thread bump, but you're going from stamped steel to tubular, the material is thicker and better formed.
