Rookie Question About Lockers

I'm still new at this jeep thing and everything I learn is from this forum for the most part, so here is my new question. What are the lockers and what is their function?

Lockers actually lock both sides of your axles so that both will spin wether you have one wheel in the air or not. Most 4 wheel drives don't come with lockers so you pretty much have a posi-trac style axle where the wheel with the least amount of tension will turn. Some people have fron and rear and some just have fron or just rear. It will help quite a bit in your offroad adventures. The only Jeep that comes stock with lockers is your Rubicon. Hope that helps.
