Roof Rack owners step up.

Getting a new addition to the family this month and going to loose quit a bit of space in the back due to carseat. I am looking for opinions on what roof rack is the best for the money. I do want one with a cage and it looks like there is no way around spending $500. I looked at top five and kargo master they are a little out of my budget is there a rack out there cheaper that can be used with a softtop for a 99 Sahara. Thanks

I while back I sent out an inquiry about racks. The Wilderness seemed to get the best feedback. Haven’t taken the leap yet. Still worried about vibration and wind noise on the highway. Glad to see the topic surface again maybe this time I will be convinced.

from what I hear and from my own research the wilderness and the Warrior products rack are the best two on the market. In my opinion they also look the best. To narrow it down to one I would choose the wilderness rack!

I am with the El Golfo, I have had the wilderness rack for about a year. No rattles, no windnoise, and still looks great.

The nice thing about the Wilderness rack is it's four bolts and you can drop your top. Some have modified the bolt and it's even faster. It seems real strong. I get some wind noise, but not much more than normal. Good luck

My Wilderness is in the mail as we speak. Ive shopped around for about six months and was sold on them. They make the rack spec'd for the Hummer (H1 not H2), and I even got a personal email back from the company President when I had a question about the weight limits, for reference the rack will support up to 500 lbs stationary, 300 in transit. I have been looking at the roof mounted tents and asked them if I would have to sleep alone because of the listed weight requirements. (No girlfriend jokes, Jeep-ne-time). I guess they liked the question enough to pass it all the way to the boss.(Basically, If Im sleeping alone, dont blame it on the rack).

Ive also seen a really good looking rack from Kargomaster, but by the time you buy everything you are in the $700 range.
