ROKMEN Unlimited Rebuild - Cage, 40's etc
Well after four years of faithful service the time has come to make the Unlimited a little bigger. While its past forms have served me well I need a vehicle that can tackle any trail in the country and drive home, not back onto a trailer. The extra wheelbase and storage space has been great and I sometimes wonder if I could ever go back to a SWB.
The high level plan is a new cage, 40" MTR's, upgraded axle assemblies...and other parts to be mentioned as the build progresses. Im not going to go into all the details, the plan will all be revealed in time. This series of mods will not be the end of the upgrades but a huge step towards the end goal. The cage is first up and the main body is mocked up and tacked in place. The idea is to have a "cab like" appearance with a fairly open rear section for gear etc. The stock soft top will still fit, and a custom top is a possibility as well. when things are added I will be sure to post new pics. You will notice the stock D44's are no longer under the rig, new assemblies should be arriving soon. One major thing this project is lacking is a good name. Currently the Jeep is silver, and if it stays that way I have a name picked out, but a possible repaint could be in order. If this happens a new name will be needed....so go here to put in your 2 pennies... http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/rokmen-unlimited-naming-thread-644331-post6122954/#post6122954 On to the jeep porn... feeling a bit empty inside... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Progress is being made but we have been waiting for various parts to arrive, and now that almost everything is here its time to kick the build into high gear.
Spidertrax Ultimate 60 Knuckles. Decided to go this route after talking w/ Tom at Spidertrax at length and him feeling confident in them holding up to a not so light rig and DD use... Spidertrax Spider9 axle housings, Yukon Nodular 3rd Members, Daytona Pinion Support, 5.29 gears, 35 Spline ARB's Our buddies at AEV hooked us up with a high clearance heat reduction hood... New tube fenders that will fit the 40's a little better. The "skin" is not final, just playing with some design possibilities...but this one isnt bad ![]() New wheels just arrived yesterday so this weekend we should be measuring the axle housings and starting to put them together.

I love the look of a cageless jeep. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. To bad death is a primary side effect of being cageless though
![]() And what top are you going to put on it? if any

I'd do it the same way ... that way if you want to go with a non-stock top you know'll it'll be pretty darn close.
