Rock Track Transfer Case In A 2000

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a 2000 TJ Sport nv3550 trans Dana 44 rear and a Rubicon 44 going in the front. I have a 1 inch body lift 1 inch mortor mount lift and soon to have a 4 inch suspension lift. Will a Rubicon 4:1 transfer case bolt right in as long as i get the shifter and the drive shafts? Will i need an aftermarket rear drive shaft? I was told they are alot biger will it fit now that I have a body lift? Will the spedo plug in can I switch spedo gears to correct for my 488 gears. Thanks for any info

Are you doing a tummy tuck? If not, I cannot imagine that you would even need the 1" Body lift unless something has changed from 2000 to 2003 regarding the transfer case clearance. A Rubi t-case fits in a Rubi without a body lift. You will need a different rear driveshaft as the 231 has a slip yoke and the 241OR has a flange/fixed yoke. The 241OR has an electronically controlled speedo sensor, not a gear like the 231.

Speedo plug is the same. The dealer can adjust your speedo. The 4WD indicator plug is different. The shift linkage is slightly different. The 241 TC sits lower than the 231 so the stock trans skid will need minor modifications.

You will need a 1330 rear D44 pinion yoke or a combo 1310/1330 u-joint for the rear drive shaft. The 241 TC has a flat flange so you will need a new DS. The front Rubi drive shaft will work OK.

Just did the 241OR swap, in my 2000 TJ 4.0 auto, a couple of months ago. I also swapped both axles. I had no problem with clearance with the skid. The 97-98 and I'm not sure on 99, skids are different and need a slight mod, but the 2000 has room to spare. Well at least with the auto but I don't think there is a hugh length difference between auto and manual so you should be alright. The only problem I faced was the auto needs a long shaft input on the tcase and the 241OR is a short shaft. Used a teraflex seal extender to fix that. I don't think the manual has this problem. The speedo plugs right in. I already had a Superlift TruSpeed Speed Sensor Recalibrator installed when I went to bigger tires. I just had to adjust it to correct for new gears. The driveshafts will work as previously stated in the above post. Front will bolt right in. Another option with the rear is to take the rubi driveshaft and yours to a shop and have then make you one. I went ahead and got a TW's shaft to fix the problem and also get rid of my tcase drop. I haven't hooked up the engage sensor on top yet but it works the same as the 231, it's just two wires coming from a switch. I've been trying to find the rubi pigtail for it but may have to mod up a connection.

You can get the 4wd switch pigtail for a rubi from the dealer. Part# 5161918-AA. It's like 13 bucks.

I just did this swap and the dealer where I got the speed sensor didn't get the bolt, even though when I called I was told that "all my parts were in." Can of you guys tell me the diameter, thread type or pitch, and length of the bolt that hold the speed sensor to the 241 t-case?
