Replacing fog light stalk switch with dash mounted switch?

Hey guys, has anyone disabled the stalk-mounted fog light switch and replaced it with a dash-mounted unit? If so, please explain how to do this. Thanks in advance!

I've never done it, but it would be a simple matter to cut the wires going to the stalk switch and reroute them to your new switch. You will most likely have to extend them. A factory service manual is a good tool to have since it lists the wire sizes, markings, and connector locations.

Is this because the stalk mounted switch is Malfunctioning? If so be warned that the other functions of the switch (headlights etc) will also malfunction sooner or later.

I would be interested in this as well because my stalk is malfunctioning. my fog lights turn themselves on all the time and sometimes i cant get them to turn off. should i just look into getting a new stalk? my fear is that the light stalk will be fairly pricy at the stealership and i don't look forward to ripping apart my steering column to do the replacement/install.

It isn't malfuntioning at all....I just don't like it on the stalk. I would rather move it to a dash mounted switch, since that is way cooler, and I'm wanting to have a few switches next to each other.

This doesn't directly answer the question, but if more lights or other doo-dads that need a switch are in your future upgrade plans, here's what I did: www.4x4spod.com

(I don't use the stock fog light wiring anymore - i abandoned it and ran new wires to my new fog lights)

OK, then as Durango Bob said, with wiring diagrams from FSM it should be a reasonable job to relocate them.

Actually, the replacement is not that bad, I had to do it on my wifes PT Cruiser (Same POS switch). For now if you leave you left turnsignal on when you shut off the jeep it should keep the fogs from coming on and killing your battery. The switch is a dealer item or search online, about $150 is I remember.
