Replacing exhaust manifold, have question.

I'm replacing exhaust manifold this week on 1997 tj with 4.0. I have read before about a tool or wrench needed but I cant find it now. Can anyone help ? Also would you spray bolts with pb blaster a few days before or is there something better ?

A 9/16" or 14mm ratcheting wrench will make the job much easier.

There is not much room to work around the exhaust and intake bolts.

You should not have much trouble with rusty bolts, except for maybe the bolts that secure the header to the downpipe. I usually just cut those off.

PB blaster works ok for a penetrating fluid, but there are better options. Liquid Wrench works a little better.

I needed a "fuel disconnect" tool when I replaced my manifold.

A fuel line disconnect tool does make it easier.

You can get it from Napa for around $10.

Or you can leave the fuel line hooked up and remove the fuel rail and the injectors as one assembly. You risk tearing an o-ring doing it this way though.

You need a 9/16"s swivel socket, extensions and a ratchet... along with special tool for fuel line release.
