Removing the Transfer Case Drop...

When I bought my Jeep I was told it has a SYE kit installed as well as a different drive shaft. I believe it was a Tom Woods but I could be wrong. The drive shaft does look like a CV type drive shaft.

With that being said, can I remove the T-case drop? I do not have adjustable rear control arms.

I will post up pics of what I have installed when I get home. And I will also find out if anyone I know has an angel finder to find the angel of the drive shaft.

Thanks!

I would get upper rear adjustables first then remove the drop.
You want that angle right.

The Jeep keeps popping out of 4l. Could the Tcase drop be the reason why?

I was under there last night. I've been searching for what needs to be adjusted and how to adjust it. I want to buy the linkage kit but can't spend the $150 on it right now.

you don't need a linkage kit. you just need to adjust the t-case linkage itself. theres only one or two screws you can mess with. just pull the t-case linkage into 2wd, 4-Hi and N, it will be come obvious how it works.

There is some sort of bracket on there now. I will mess around with it tonight when I get some free time.

I also read your post about how to adjust the linkage. Problem is I can't always get my tcase to go all the way in 4l.

It will if you adjust it.Pull it back as far as it will go and loosen the nut to adjust. If you have the drop bracket already on,it could be hitting that plate.I had to notch mine.If you get adjustable control arms and remove the drop, you won't have to worry about it.

At the back of the rod that travels horizontally front to back.

That is the one that has the 14mm bolt holding it in place? When I loosened it last night the rod did not move freely.

So I put in in 4l, loosen the bolt to make sure the tcase is in 4l, then tighten it up?

SHIFT LINKAGE ADJUSTMENT
(1) Shift transfer case into 4L position. (make sure your shifter is fully in the 4L position)
(2) Raise vehicle.
(3) Loosen lock bolt on adjusting trunnion (Fig.
87).
(4) Be sure linkage rod slides freely in trunnion.
Clean rod and apply spray lube if necessary.
(5) Verify that transfer case range lever is fully
engaged in 4L position. (you can do this under the vehicle at the transfer case)
(6) Tighten adjusting trunnion lock bolt.
(7) Lower vehicle

Basically, you are just ensuring that the position you put the lever inside the vehicle is the same position that the tcase lever is in and then tightening the locking bolt.
