Removing third brake light and spare carrier

I know i can just unbolt everything but what do you do twith the wiring back there? how about the rubber pucks?

Are you installing a new bumper w/ swing away carrier?

When I put mine on it had a place to relocate the light, but I removed it instead. Anyhow, if you open the tailgate there are gonna be two contacts near the hinges. They look like the size of a dime. Those plug into a socket. Grab the head of the contact with some pliers and it will come right out of the socket and you can disconnect everything, then pull the cover and bracket off ot the tailgate and you will have to cut the wire on the inside and outside where it passes thru the grommet in the tailgate. Now you can go to the nearest trash can and throw all that crap away!

i actually played around with it for a while and i was able to remove everything without cutting anything! I removed the plastic cover inside the gate, ten unplugged the wires and fed them through to the outside after removing the rubber plug. i went and bought a new solid rubber plug to fill up the hole! but yeah i wil be getting a new swing out carrier as soon as i hav ethe cash!
