removing spare tire carrier

ok i have searched and cant find anything. i know there are threads but i cant find them. i removed my spare tire carrier and that was easy. now its still connected by the wire that runs to the third light. i know i can cut it but i dont want to. how did you guys remove this?
need help fast because its hanging outside and i have to drive to school tomorrow.

Open up your tailgate, on the inside passenger side of the gate, there is a plastic piece that sticks out to make the connections for the brake light. Remove the plastic cover, you can unplug the wire there and pull it out.

Inside the tail gate there are contacts that the wires go to, just remove the cover plate and you'll see them; no need to cut anything.

ok do i just pull the wires threw the hole in the tailgate?

i think i am going to keep them just in case i need them for inspection sorry though.

ok so i cant fit the wires through the hole. there are black rubber pieces on the end of the wires that are stopping them from going through.
