Removing shifter knob

How do you remove the shifter knob on my 6 speed. Looking to change it out with a different one. My dads old S-10 just unscrewed by hand, but I can not seem to get mine to loosen up.

Use a small flathead screwdriver to pop off the cap at the top, then there is a nut holding the knob on.

once you pry that end cap off it will prob be a little roughed up too. I would use this opportunity to get a new one.

Yea I couldn't get that cap back on mine, so I've been looking around for another shifter knob
