Relocating side mirrors
We are looking at relocating the mirrors on a 2000 TJ. I have seen the brackets for relocating the OEM's and have heard that you lose some visibility. I have seen the kits where you get new mirrors and arms as well. These appear to bring the mirrors back to a more natural location. Any suggestions or experiences would be appreciated. My wife wants the doors off quick and Indiana State Police want mirrors on always.

I got mirror movers from Quadratech ($30). I relocated the stock mirrors to the windshield.
The kit I got was just a brackets to hold the mirror and a couple of washers. As a result, I lost the ability to flip the mirror (had to remove the spring that allowed that). With my hard doors on, the passenger side mirror is useless. Can barely see it. Doors off - it's perfect. Driver side is as good as it was before - actually a little better. Overall, it's good. I love taking the door off.

I relocated my driver side mirror, and completely removed my passenger mirror. In alabama, only one mirror is required.

Thanks everyone. I am going to get a set on order using the OEM mirrors and probably not mess with the passenger side. The Indiana law does not require the passenger side as you guessed. I appreciate the posts.

I'm glad I caught this string, miss a couple days of reading and everything is all new. Lot to catch up. I was thinkin' about doin' the same thing for my jeep and was wonderin' where you bought that kit at, Sureman. Somethin' I can go to a local store for or somethin' I need to whip out the credit card for and go online with? I got the black mirrors with red doors. The screws holdin' the mirrors to the doors are black. If I moved the mirrors would I have to get the screws painted red so they would match the doors?

Jim,
You can go to the Quadratec (no h) website. quadratec . There are also a couple of different sets in the JC Whitney catalog. We don't seem to have a lot of truck accessory stores, so I am limited to the web and catalogs or long drives.

You can get mirror movers from quadratec or sun performance has them. You do lose the visability of the passenger mirror because of the windshield frame. But alot of states only require the drivers side mirror and the rear view mirror anyway. hth
