Why not get rid of the canister all together - and bypass it?

I looked and looked and asked around here, pirate and JU and never found a write up on moving it. I did find info on doing the bypass which I did and am happy.

Probably just depends on state emission laws?

Counties? Try the whole darn state of California! It's a bummer but what can you do? Good luck!

Well thats to bad.

Like I said, I looked around a lot and never found a helpful write up on moving it but did come across some after photos. One guy just extended the lines to his canister and mounted it to the bottom of his tub. Another guy was able to turn his canister 90* and make it fit - which gave him an extra 3" or so and allowed for extended wheel well corners like I have.

Some tubing and wire to splice into the stock setup and you can put it just about anywhere you want to.

Not everywhere in CA do you need a full smog. The state has 3 levels. 1st is smog on the dyno with sniffer in tailpipe. 2nd is whats called 2 speed idle. That is just the sniffer in the tailpipe. 3rd is if you live far enough out in the middle of BFE then no smog required.

I don't think it would cause any major issues to remove it and cap the lines. You would have a constant check engine light, but other than that it wouldn't affect the jeep at all.

I moved my cannister mid Jeep behind the transfers case. The rest I put next to the TC mounted on thef rame rail. There are a few pictures in 03 build. You just have to keep straight all of the plumbing. Also Genright has some info on it with their stretch tank.

I live out in the middle of nowhere in California, and the only time we have to have a smog test is when you sell a vehicle. My old '84 Ford PU won't pass the test, so I can't sell it (in California) but I can still drive it.
