Rear Shock Relocation Brackets

My rear shocks have been dented by the plate that seats the rear springs. I think that inverting the shocks might solve the clearance problem, but that was not an option with the shocks that came with the kit I installed. I have seen rear shock relocation brackets in 4WD Hardware catalogs and wonder if this what I need. Does anyone have some pics of what these look like installed? Will this be the answer to my problem?

Thanks for the replies to my post. These look like they will move the shock back enough to prevent contact with the spring perch at articulation.

those bolt on shock extensions will work with moderate wheeling conditions. Mine had to be welded on bc they kept getting loose and cracked.

if there is a manufacture that claims they have a track bar that will work, I'll never believe it unless one gets sent to me to install and inspect... I actually check this stuff with a centered axle at ride height and the springs out, not a fork lift flex test... of course it won't hit that way. I don't need one BTW, but I could sell a ton of em if there's one out there that works and is strong enough. I'm willing to do the work to get it right..... are you?

um... the bolt on piece can be as strong as you want but with that angle it puts a lot more stress on the stock bracketry, and yours look homemade 1/4 inch steel?

Even with my RE monotubes mounted can-up (as they should be) they still sometimes contact the rear spring perches .

It could be answer to your problem, and they could cause a whole different set of problems. I don't know if you wheel hard in the rocks, or wheel the mall parking lot hard. But those brackets would just rip off on me before lunchtime where I wheel.
These aren't great pics, but it's what I could dig up for now. I'd recommend you move the bottom mounts outboard. Doing this does a few things. It reinforces your lower control arm mount, it moves the shock near the tire so it will hit objects about 95% less, and it gives the shock a better angle to work with. It also takes care of the problem hitting the spring perch and it gives more room at the gas tank too.

And for comparisons sake:

I see you moved the bottoms outboard but left the tops inside the frame. Do you have any clearance issues with the inside of the frame rubbing the shock when the rear is flexed out?

Mine are slowly being eaten away- I have a set of Ford shock mounts ready to be welded on the top outboard side but I haven't gotten to it yet.

No, they don't hit the frame. It's very close, but I have more droop than compression. When the axle droops the shock is just about straight up and down. I'll try to find a pic. Of course the full outboard set up is best, but I didn't want to get in to that, and seeing as the OP is talking about the relocation brackets that just move them rearward I didn't go in to that.

Best I can do right now. Kind of hidden by the tree but you get the idea.
