rear seat setup..Just one bucket seat?

Any body ever put ONE bucket seat in the back? I know its a strange thing to ask...But I just dont ahve the room for a full back seat. I thought maybe it would be cool to run just ONE bucket seat on the passenger side in the back. It would ahve a seatbelt ofcourse and all of the saftey things needed. That way I can carry an extra person if needed, but it will give me a little bit more storage space.

dude just stick with the fold and tumble stocker. no way a bucket would be safe back there w/o major safty fab. Anyway, I think ive heard of a company who will turn your stocker into a 50/50 split fold and tumble. Thats all i know about it though, any1 know about that?

Yeah, I would think putting a bucket seat back there would put the person's head over the roll bar. Probably not a good idea. That 50/50 split sounds nice though. i would do that...

Why woudlnt it be safe? Its the exact same thing as a fold and tuble...Just without the other half. Not only that, but a bucket seat hold you in more because of the sides on the seat. I think its the bolster or something?i forget what its called. But yo know what I mean...That parts of a bucket that wrap around you and kind of hold you in.

But I would think that a bucket seat, to get it bolted down properly, would sit too high for someone to sit in it. I would be wrong...wouldn't be the first time.

Strange enough , I've been thinkin of doin the same thing . I wheeled with a guy last year that set his up like that . Of course it was not a full , high back seat , it worked out pretty good though . He had his wife and kid along with a child seat on the rear single .

Its really a great idea if you think about it. I just have to figure out what seat, and how to mount it. Im sure a lowback seat would work. As long as you are able to bolt/secure it to the floor as LOW AS POSSIBLE, it would put the persons head at about the same hight it would be as if they were on the original rear seat.

That is a really cool idea. I see so many jeeps running around with just 1 passenger in the rear I think it would sell like hotcakes at a church breakfast. I personally need 2 seats back there but my needs aren't the same as the masses.

arent the older CJ front seats lowback seats? I could just find a junkyard CJ and steal a seat. Than mess around with different ideas on mounting. From there, a seatbelt wouldnt be hard to get working and than im set!

That would look (and feel) pretty good to have a set (or one) matching front seat fabbed to lock down in the back.I mean way back there like a recliner. You've got me thinking too !

I really like this idea. I'm glad to see that i'm not the only one who has daydreamed about this. I would like to do the lowback bucket seats turned sideways like the old jump seats in the old FJ Cruisers. Still just a daydream though, because I just can't figure out a way to make it work.
