Rear Bucket Seat

Just wonerin if anyone has removed the rear bench seat and opted for a rear bucket, allowing seating for three and more storage space?

i dug this up from an older topic that was posted. i think it is what you are looking for regarding the rear seat split in two.

Thats pretty cool. I have been thinking about that myself since I need the storage but also need a backseat. I've had my backseat out for this week and its been rough because I didnt realize how much I used it and mostly for one person, a 3 person Jeep wold be perfect...

Thanks, I guess we were both thinkin the same thing. I have a regular need to seat three, but rarely four. My ten year old is usaully in the back, and I was even thinking of buying a good bucket and plunking in right in the middle with a good harness for safety.

If I do it I will post pics.

The only thing I've seen is the back seat split, as described in the other posts. I don't want to hack up the factory seat, or spend any money money doing that.

I'd rather get a new or used bucket, preferably something with an armrest. My big concern is safety. I don't want to just bolt something down, if it will not hold together and work with the seatbelts in an accident.

I agree about the safety issue. Maybe for a platform, a metal piece of diamond plate that has attachments to the same cleats that the stock seat attaches to. Then put the seat to the side and use stock seat belts. Or, I like the idea of having the seat in the middle if good seat belt attachement points can be established. That way if there is a side impact, the passenger is away from the collision site. Definately armrests.

I would also be interested if anyone has put junkyard seats in front that have an arm rest on the inside.

Recently saw a local Jeeper that put a nice bucket seat in the back. The reason for it??? He wanted space for a rear seat passenger (the seat) and also room for his dog.
