Not too hijack, but are timken still better than others like skf or koyo bearings? I ask because I just replaced all the bearings in my front 44 and I went in to six states and asked for timken bearings. He went came back with bearings in Spicer bags, and was surprised when I pointed out that they weren't even all timken. Not even Spicer is using all timken anymore, there was one timken, two koyo and one ntn bearing.
I replaced mine with Timkin and had excessive endplay, replaced them again with National and had the same issue. Tried a set of SKS and no endplay. New retainer plates were used each time.
