Looks good, i like the color choice.
What kind of system did you do for the tail gate? i want to do something similar. got more pics of it?
With the tailgate I just went to Home Depot and found heavy duty barn hinges. The only thing you have to be careful off is finding ones that are flush, and the hinge pin doesn't stick out. Then I just got some grade 8 bolts and bolted it up. The tub was a real PITA because I had to partially drop the gas tank, and found out the tub is boxed in right under the tailgate, so we drilled all the way through and used some crazy 1/4 metal we had laying around as a backing plate.
Then with the tailgate I just drilled all the way through and used big washers. Ordered some (CJ?) tailgate straps to use with the tailgate. The only problems is the factory pin and door latch catch so you have to pull really hard. The pin needs to go up about 3/16 of an inch but is as far as it goes, so that's going to need fixing. Then I also wish I had set everything up before we removed the tailgate from the factory hinges so it was lined up better.
Nice Work! Looks a heck of a lot better. That was a lot of labor you put into that bodywork and rust removal. What type of paint did you use? In the future I'm going to have to repaint my hood. There's all these miniscule paint cracks underneath the clear it looks like. Must be from heat. My 08 Civic has that same type of cracks. I'll be doing that one myself too whenever the cracks get worse. I'll hold off for now because of material cost. Base/Clear paint costs are sky high.
I used PPG Omni single stage urethane, I have to go look at the can for the exact color though.
Like you said, base/clear is really expensive, and it's a Jeep, so I'm not looking for show quality shine. But I must say I polished and waxed it last weekend and it looked awesome.
Still cost me upwards of 270 for a gallon of color and the reducer/activator.
I also wish I had just gone to a junkyard and pulled a new hood and tailgate instead of spending almost 100 bucks on fiberglass filler.
